Mercury Testing

Schedule a visit with us to come to your plant site to provide mercury testing with best-in-class emissions monitoring technology. Our portable analyzers and on-site analysis can be installed quickly to measure real-time mercury concentrations from nearly any sampling location at your facility.

Continuous Process Monitoring

Our full Hg CEMS instrument is contained in a portable, environmentally-controlled enclosure.  A mobile air purification cart, heated sample line, and robust sampling probe can be installed in almost any sampling location.  We save you money with remote-control technology that does not require constant personnel and can reduce your costs for the long-term tests required for process evaluation and optimization.

Real-Time Mercury Speciation Data

Although environmental regulations only require total mercury concentrations, the different species of mercury present in the flue gas provide valuable information that can impact the capture and control of mercury at your plant.  Our portable Hg CEMS continuously report both elemental and oxidized mercury concentrations which are critical for process optimization.

Strict Quality Control Procedures

The Process Mercury CEMS are designed to meet or exceed all of the performance and quality control specifications outlined in U.S. EPA Part 60 (PS-12A and Procedure 5) and Part 63 (MATS and Portland Cement) provisions for Hg CEMS systems.  Systems equipped with oxidizer for system integrity checks are available but not typically utilized for temporary installations.

Sorbent Trap Testing

Portable mercury sorbent trap equipment can be deployed quickly and reliably to almost any sampling location.  We provide experienced sampling services using standard (total mercury) sorbent traps, mercury speciation traps, and other specialized traps.  Paired with on-site analysis, we can report the results from the tests immediately following collection and analysis.

Long-Term Optimization Program

Optimizing your process for mercury testing cannot take place in a single day.  Many things can influence the mercury along the path from the boiler to the stack.  Long-term optimization studies are the best and most reliable way to make confident decisions that affect the bottom line of your plant.  Temporary equipment can be installed to capture real-time mercury concentrations throughout your plant.  With our extensive amount of expertise, we provide long-term programs to use portable monitoring equipment that are the most cost-effective in the entire industry.

Changes in Mercury Emissions

New SCR catalysts, poor distribution of activated carbon, fluctuating operating temperatures, and scrubber re-emission problems can all impact mercury emissions.  With many years of experience in power plant operations, we have seen the gamut of issues that can arise and will work with you to investigate the reason for the unexpected changes.

Evaluate New Products

New technology is introduced at a record pace in a highly competitive market.  Activated carbon manufacturers and halogen-chemical producers are always innovating their processes and promoting their newest products.  You can be confident that we provide independent, third-party review of the latest technologies designed to control your mercury emissions.

Unique Sampling Locations

Most Hg CEMS are installed at the stack to report the emissions exiting the plant, but the true value is knowing what is happening between the boiler and the stack.  Coal changes and pollution control devices (SCR, WFGD) can have a direct impact on mercury emissions.  Ask us how to install temporary systems at various locations to develop a cost-saving mercury control strategy unique for your plant.
